Who is eligible to train with Cosmetica Training?

Only Doctors, Dentists or Nurses are eligible to train with us.

I am a beauty therapist qualified to level 3 with experience at electrolysis which involves piercing the skin, can I attend your course?

Whilst we believe you have the knowledge to undertake your current position, you do not have the same knowledge that is required for the administration of any injectable treatments. NVQ level 3 is not at the same depth of study that a health professionals attain whilst studying at university. The main insurance companies will not insure beauty therapists to undertaken these procedures and the IHAS believe that any beauty therapist injecting a dermal filler or botox is operating well below industry standard. Botox is a prescription only medicine that has to be prescribed accordingly. You would not be able to prescribe this medicine and we are not aware of any Doctors who will prescribe for you to administer this treatment to any patient you may encounter. Management of anaphylaxis is also a necessary requirement as a severe, potentially life threatening allergic reaction can occur which you will not be able to manage. Hamilton Frasier insures beauty therapists to carry out certain chemical peels and low needle length derma rollers, however, we have not opened these courses to beauty therapists. If you are given an adrenalin to hold you will be going against the legal requirements of the POM Act (1987) as it would have been prescribed for one patient which you cannot legally use for any other patient. Non prescribing nurses face the same dilema.

What documentation will I need to provide before hand or on the day of the course?

We will need your registration details, which will be checked with the associated professional body. On the day of your course you will need to bring with you photographic ID, if you fail to provide this you will not be able to participate in the practical aspect of the afternoon. If you do not have this documentation please contact us before booking onto our course alongside your registration details.

What is the difference between fillers and botox and which course should I attend?

A dermal filler will plump out the line that you are treating but will not have any effect on the nearby muscles, fillers can also be used as part of a lip augmentation treatment. Advanced filler treatments will address creating loss of volume to the face, enhancing the body of the lip, creating a brow lift, and correcting nasal defects and scar indentations. botox and other muscle relaxants will control the degree of activity your muscle is able to achieve. It can soften or eradicate muscular contraction in the area that is being injected. Various brow lifts can be achieved with this treatment also. With advanced procedures you can use botox to address concerns with the lower part of the face and neck as well as treating hyperhidrosis. Some practitioners will only initially choose to attend a botox training course, however, you will soon see that these treatments often complement each other and you will need to learn how to administer both fillers and botox to treat the ongoing need of your patients/clients.

Can you guarantee that I will pass your course?

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee this. We assess each of our delegates on their retention of theoretical knowledge and on their practical skills, if you do not demonstrate sufficient evidence we cannot issue you with a certificate showing you have passed. This is to protect the public, yourself and the reputation of our company. If you do not pass the course you will be invited back on the next training session so that you can take a further assessment.

Will I inject on the course and will I get to use any product I wish?

We would not be able to issue a certificate of completion if we do not see you inject people on the day(s) of the course. You are encouraged to inject as many people as possible to gain enough experience to be able to practice unsupervised. We only used industry recognised and respected products on the models who attend, any product we include in the theoretical presentation you will be certified to use on completion of our course.

Do I need to supply models?

We have a database of models who wish to attend to be injected by our delegates, however if you wish to bring a model of your own please inform a member of our team at the time of booking as model appointments are often filled up to 2 months prior to our courses. All models are required to pay for their treatments. Full treatment costs can be found on our model pages. If you wish to have a treatment yourself this can be arranged but you will not be forced to practice on each other if you do not wish to be injected. Any models you supply we will need their name, date of birth, address and confirmation that they are not pregnant, breast feeding, a list of their medication and any medical conditions they have at least 4 working days before the course takes place.

How do you assess me?

Our courses are interactive and to consolidate your learning we ask questions throughout the day as well as giving you a written exam prior to the start of the practical training session. The pass mark for the exam is 60%. Should you fail the exam you will be required to view the eLearning presentation again before resitting the exam.

I have the supplementary prescribing status (V100) can I prescribe botox?

You will not be able to independently prescribe botox and we do not believe you will be able to use a CMP for cosmetic botox injections as they are intended for long term conditions. You would therefore need to work alongside an independent prescriber. or make arrangements to attend the V300 course.

I do not know a prescriber who will assist me in practice, what should I do?

As long as you successfully pass our courses and maintain your competence we are able to offer a face to face consultation and prescribing service for you if you are registered with the NMC. This will involve assessing each patient, writing a prescription which will be dispensed by the pharmacy and giving you a direction to administer. You can return to our clnical premises to administer the treatment in one of our rooms, you will not be charged for this.

Remote prescribing is not seen as acceptable by my governing body or within the industry, how is your service different?

We do not offer remote prescribing, this is where the prescriber writes a prescription remotely, often used in the remote community where GP access is limited, without ever having contact with the patient. Our prescribers will not prescribe or give you a direction if they are not able to make a prescribing decision. This can only be done through direct contact with the patient and in line with clarified guidance from the NMC, all contact must take place in the same location as the prescriber.

Will the prescriber be in my area and will they have to attend my clinic?

Whilst there is no legal requirement for consultations to be face to face, to comply with professional guidelines and to assess your patients muscular anatomy to ensure a correct dosage is administered, your patient will need to attend clinic to be assessed by the prescriber.

How will this affect who is responsible if a complaint is made?

As a prescriber, they are responsible for the prescription; for example if a prescription was written and dispensed when there was a known contraindication they are responsible. As the administrator you are responsible for this aspect of the treatment; if you administer into the wrong muscle or inject too much toxin then you are accountable for this. As with any other medicine you should be satisfied that it is the right product, the right dose for the right patient.

If I need to cancel or postpone my training can this be done?

If you need to postpone we can transfer your booking onto another date, please advise us of this as soon as is practically possible. If however, you wish to cancel any refunds given are subject to our terms and conditions of booking which you need to read and agree to prior to booking our courses.

Can I order products through Cosmetica Training?

We do offer an ordering service but we are not a wholesaler and cannot supply wholesale stock to you. For POMs we can only supply these on a named patient basis only after a consultation has occurred between the prescriber and the patient. As we are a VAT registered company, all orders will be subject to VAT.

How will I be supported after training with you?

We offer numerous packages to our delegates whether it is an online/virtual package or undergoing our mentorship programme. If you do not practice immediately after completing our courses, you are welcome to return on another course or book in for a 1 – 1 supervision session. This is available at an additional cost.

How do you change your practice to meet the needs of your trainees?

We always ask our delegates to complete feedback sheets, this allows us to ascertain how successful or courses are which inevitably changes our practice. If your self assessment of your confidence is not at the desired level we will contact you personally to discuss this matter and put into place a package to enhance your learning therefore, raising your confidence.

Do you have an information pack you can post to me?

We do not feel it is beneficial to produce packs for potential delegates, our website is informative to include all the information we feel is pertinent to know. If you have specific queries that you feel we have not addressed please contact us via e-mail or telephone so that we can answer them for you. This will also give us an opportunity to update our website so other potential delegates have access to that information. Cosmetica Training want to work for you and with you so you are able to decide on which course is right for you.

There are other courses out there which are cheaper, will you price match?

As a rule we do not price match as when you compare what we offer in comparison to what other companies offer we generally achieve the better result. What we value is the content and quality of our courses, the ongoing practical, business and marketing support we provide and the opportunity to purchase reduced price products from us. We are the only provider to offer a full day of practical administration, however, if you do wish us to price match we will generally price match all terms of the other company including the amount of practical you receive.
